- work up to 40 hours every 2-week period once your course starts
How long you can stay
This is a temporary visa to study up to 5 years. The type of course and its length will determine the length of stay.
Eligibility
- Be enrolled in a course of study and provide evidence
- Meet English language requirements (Exemptions applied)
- Have adequate health insurance
- Have enough money for your stay
- Be a genuine temporary entrant (*)
- Holding an eligible substantive visa if applying in Australia
- Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused while in Australia.
- Meet Health and Character requirements
- Pay your debts to the Australian government
For under 18 years of age, school student:
- Be a certain age
- Make welfare arrangements if you are under 18 years
- Best interests of an applicant under 18.
(*) The Genuine Temporary Entrant requirements include:
- Circumstances in home country/country of residence
- Circumstances in Australia
- Value of the course to the applicant
- Immigration history
- Intentions of guardians (if applicant is a minor)
